YOUNG PROFESSIONALS GROUPS::

P.O.L.O. - Professionals Organized for Leadership and Opportunity - Lee County, FL::

  • Local young professionals group that was copied from a Naples group in 1989
  • Started as a member in 1996
  • Board of Directors in 1998
  • Vice President in 1999-2000
  • Left when group became static and too political - the end was coming 
  • Group has since shrunk from 185 members at peak to approximately 20

YOUNG PROFESSIONALS, INC::

  • Founded Young Professionals of Southwest Florida in February, 2002
    First event was March 2, 2002
    • Covered from Sarasota to Marco Island with members in
      • Daytona
      • Tampa
      • Melbourne
    • Chief cook and bottle washer - all events, all promotion, etc., etc., etc.
  • Split the group into smaller chapters in the fall of 2003
    Launched Naples on November 23, 2003 with Brandi Hanson, Chad Phipps, Jayme Moore and three others
    • Lee County - August 2003 - Fort Myers, Bonita Springs, Cape Coral, Lehigh, Sanibel & Captiva, etc.   web site:  www.YPFL.com or www.FindYP.com
    • Naples - November 21, 2003- Naples, Immokalee, Golden Gate, Marco Island, Bonita Springs   web site:  www.YPNaplesFL.com
    • Daytona, Sarasota, Venice, Charlotte - groups took on their own lives and rolled into other groups being formed under local chambers
    • Helped over a half dozen other groups start up
  • President of Young Professionals, Inc. for two years following split = Young Professionals of Lee County
  • Organized a strong board of directors and stepped down to Vice President
  • Developed and plan the annual Membership Kick-Off with the help of Kristy Kurzyniec which is now over 1,000 attendees
  • Grown this non-profit organization from zero to over 1,100 paid members
  • Since removing dues, the Lee County group has grown to over 5,000 members
  • Stepped back into role of President in the Spring of 2012.  Current President.

    • Now work on strategic relationships with other YP groups, and within the community
    • Developing a more robust organization
